Quantitative Analysis of Hybrid-Excited Doubly Salient Machine With Subslot Bottom PMs and Its Comparative Study

This article proposes a doubly salient machine (DSM) with subslot bottom permanent magnets (PMs) to enhance the torque production. The key is that auxiliary slot-PM excitation, stator yoke dc saturation can be mitigated production capability of field meanwhile additional flux pushed into airgap, which build parallel excitation and generate effective torque. Comparing dc-excited DSM represents PM (SBPM-DSM), steady enhanced by 12.8% use PMs. In this article, separation effects due slot-bottom PMs are quantitatively analyzed frozen permeability method. By using time-stepping finite-element analysis, electromagnetic performances two machines evaluated. Experimental results verify validity proposed design.
